Mitsukejima-Island in the Noto Peninsula: “Torii-gate” in the Darkness
A small island that towers in the sea and a “Torii-gate” built in shallow water will be the perfect motif for landscape photography.
Mitsukejima-Island at the tip of the Noto Peninsula (Oku-Noto) in Ishikawa Prefecture is named after the legend that “Kobo-Taishi / Kukai” found it. It is also called “Gunkanjima” because the rocks about 30m high protruding from the sea are similar to warships.
Alternatively, there is a myth that the god of “Shinto" who descended on this land first found it.
It seems to be a “Shinto” thought that God
dwells in all things, and it enshrines Mitsukejima- Island as a deity and sets
up a “Torii-gate” in an exquisite location that floats from the sea.
"Torii-gate" is considered to be
a "gate" that separates the human world from the world of God. The
“Torii-gate” was emerging in the dark black nights, suggesting a connection
with the infinite universe.
I can take different pictures at different times of the morning sun, sunset and starry sky, but when I took it, I was not able to have good weather, but at night lighting up I took a picture of the island and “Torii-gate” that seemed to float in the dark. I was able to shoot.
From this coast, if the weather is good,
you can see the “Tateyama” mountain range far away from Toyama Bay.
At the next opportunity, I would like to take a picture with Mitsukejima-Island and “Tateyama” Mountains as a motif.
